Poetry Monday

Okay-here's another song published with Ted Daffen Music, its been requested to be recorded by an up and coming vocalist-though its been a bit and I still dont know where its at in the process...I thought I'd share.
I promise next week I'll put in a cheerful song lol.

WATERFALLS

You are the mountain,
Larger than life.
Strong and unchanging,
Though icy winds freeze you and cut like a knife

You keep your secrets,
Hidden so well
Cool and unyielding
Though inside you burn fires hotter than Hell.
And in all the history of history
You never fell.

I am the river
Flowing and free.
I'm going somewhere,
Though I'm not sure just where somewhere might be.

If I stop for too long
It'll kill me I'm sure.
Movement is my life,
Change me and I'll be a river no more.
But changing the course of a river,
Is what a mountain is for.

Chorus:
And the only time,
That water falls.
Is when it reaches the top of the mountain,
And hears the call.
Sayin' go on and give it a try...
You'll never get another chance to fly.
Though you dont know whats on the other side,
There's no choice at all.
When faced with a mountain....water falls.

You keep me close to you,
Take all I can give.
I give you new life,
You give me shelter and reason to live.

Though I keep searching,
you're holdin on fast.
But our world is changing,
and neither one knows how long its gonna last.
I long for the future,
and you can't let go of the past.

Chorus:
And the only time,
That waterfalls
Is when it reaches the top of the mountain,
And hears the call.
Sayin' go on and give it a try,
You'll never get another chance to fly
Though you dont know whats on the other side,
there's no choice at all.
When faced with a mountain...waterfalls.

I love the line "faced with a mountain, water falls." Of course you have to remember, eventually, water cuts through stone. I'd love to hear the music and voice that goes with the song.

Okay, I KNOW I've got Trevor's Song on the brain today. And that's a good thing, even as the matter of Trevor is currently out of my hands (again).

But damn if this lyric doesn't make me think you wrote it with my book in mind.

I'm with Rhian. Keep us posted on the recording and release of this. It's amazing.

R.G., you're a wonderful songwriter! And you can really work a metaphor -- what a deep song! Definitely let us know when and where we can buy a recording so we can be your fangirls.
