Poetry Monday

Another old song. My own little time capsules lol

Little Black Box

My old lover
Locked his heart in a little black box-a
Long long time ago and
Threw away the key

He threw it into the ocean
Where it would never be found
The dark water, swallowed it down
Long before he met me

And, I guess I was foolish
To think I could win the prize and
I guess I was crazy,
To fall for his lies-when he said

Chorus:

Hold your breath just a little bit longer
Swim girl just a little bit stronger
Theres only a little bit farther to go oh oh
Part of me believes you can make it
The other part thinks that you cant take it
Prove which one is right and then I’ll know
If you deserve my love

I tried so hard
To keep us both afloat well
I was so sure I could
Prove my love to him

But somewhere along the way
My heart grew heavy and tired
Till it seemed all my dreams had expired
And the lights were growing dim

And I guess I was foolish
For all the lines that I crossed
I guess I was crazy
Trying to reclaim what I hadnt lost

Chorus:

Hold your breath just a little bit longer
Swim girl just a little bit stronger
Theres only a little bit farther to go oh oh
Part of me believes you can make it
The other part thinks that you cant take it
Prove which one is right and then I’ll know
If you deserve my love

Bridge:

I almost drowned
I was almost lost at sea
Until I finally realized just what he craved
He wanted to drag me down
To lift himself up a little more but
He never wanted to be saved.

Chorus:
Hold your breath just a little bit longer
Swim girl just a little bit stronger
Theres only a little bit farther to go oh oh
Part of me believes you can make it
The other part thinks that you cant take it
Prove which one is right and then I’ll know
If you deserve my love
If you deserve my love

You don’t deserve my love.

Yes, I second the words of Feisty. Your stuff always rocks. But I have the same itch, I want to know how to sing these words (to myself of course, so as not to torture the rest of the world :))

Feisty and Anna-Maybe if I have a chocolate martini or two at Conference in July-I'll sing you the melody :)

Oh. My. God. This is incredible, R.G.! You know, after years of trying to prove that I loved certain players in my life, I finally realized there are just some people who can never be convinced that they are truly loved. How sad for them, and for the people who really do love them.

Dang that's good.
I'm with the others though, needs to be given music so it can fly.

Also makes me fell like a total hack. (Oops, I am a total hack :D)

Robin-yes-and its been the hardest lesson of my life. You never want to give up on them-but you have to or else you'll go under with them.

Lisa-thank you. I have music for it-but its kind of hard to hum on my blog LOL And you are not a hack. I loved your memory today :)

Know what's weird? I feel like I know the melody here...

Maybe one day, we'll collaborate on some lyrics for ShapeShifter. Every time I try to write them some, I'm shocked by how badly they suck.

Of Fly Catchers and hidden lakes.

Of sleeping lizards and morning dew.

It is of birdsong and misty dawns

and fleeced clouds floating in a still pool.

The waters ripple awake in the gathering morn.

The first water birds head out for the far shore.
