September 22nd through the 29th is National Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Week. Pulmonary Fibrosis is a debilitating disease marked by progressive scarring of the lungs that gradually interferes with a person's ability to breathe. There is no cure, and currently there is NO FDA approved treatment. The disease is fatal, within 5 to 7 years of diagnosis. Approximately 128,000 people in the United States have IPF, and an estimated 48,000 new cases develop each year. My mother used to say this to me when I was younger. I'm not sure who wrote it-but it always cheered me up and inspired me.

If you think you are beaten - you are
If you think you dare not - you don't
If you'd like to win, but think you can't
It's almost certain you won't

If you think you'll lose - you've lost
For out in the world you'll find
Things begin with a person's will
It's all a state of mind

If you think you're outclassed - you are
You've got to think high to rise
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win the prize

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or the faster man
Sooner or later the one who wins
Is the one who thinks they can!

A helluva friend and a wicked fast typer ;)
