NIGHT AND DAY CONTEST WRAP UP

Tomorrow is the last day of April, and the end of our contest. Two people are going to win some fantastic jewelry!

We've had a blast with these quotes, and hopefully you have too. Red Garnier and I also hope you enjoyed our releases-Seven Sinners and Regina in the Sun (and Lifting the Veil-yep-snuck that one in there lol)
I've compiled all my quotes for you-and Red has done the same on her blog HERE. When you have figured them out, email me at r.g.alexander@hotmail.com and I will announce the winner on May 1st
HINT: If you dont recognize one-Google is your friend. How do you think I found them?

1. “One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach, all the damn vampires.”

2. “The blood of a virgin is what the female vampire needs to retain her youth and beauty. And an 18 year-old would hardly be a virgin, now would he?”
”Well, hypothetically, what if he was a virgin?”
”Then I think he has a lot more important things to worry about than female vampires.”

3. “I have crossed oceans of time to find you.”

4. “There are worse things out tonight than vampires.”
”Like what?”
“Like me.”

5. “Ah, Cindy Sondheim, you should have lived in an earlier age. Things were simpler, less complicated. Do you know how many women had nervous breakdowns in the fourteenth century? Two.”

6. “Yes, I have taken from you but I have given so much more. Is it not a fair trade for life I have granted you? The gift of immortality?”
”And the life of your daughter? Your own flesh and blood?”
”I loved my daughter. But the abomination growing in her womb was a betrayal of me and the coven. I did what was necessary to protect the species. As I am forced to do yet again.”

7. “We have to talk.”
”I don't suppose this is about happy squirrels?”
”Vampires
That was my next guess”

8. “We are the powerful. We are the immortal. We should walk fearless in the open.”
”That cannot be. We are vulnerable during the day. Mortals must never know of us. “
”So I could never know her?”
”Not unless you wanted to kill her.”
”So I can never be known?”
”You must be dead to the world.”

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Another 13 Lines

Tuesday Regina in the Sun released from Samhain Publishing!
So I'm cheating and doing the lines again LOL

1. Save them. Let me die.

2. Reggie had a hangover. At least, that’s what it felt like. Either that or two irate and frustrated little gnomes were taking turns using her head as a ping-pong ball.

3. She’d returned to where it began for the end. There was a kind of poetry in that.

4. "So much power in such a tiny thing. Too much. And you don’t appreciate it at all do you? You don’t even know what you have. Such a shame."

5. "One of these days you’re going to tell me about this secret plan of yours and why it worries me so damn much."

6. "Okay, I’m going. But later you and I have an appointment for some serious spooning."
She gawked at him in disbelief as he continued with an innocent shrug, blues eyes twinkling. "Otherwise I’ll just feel used."

7. She’d be willing to bet money that this particular Trueblood read way too many cheesy Vampire novels. She’d never seen a bigger stereotype in her entire life.

8. As the threesome stood entwined in their erotic tableau, Reggie felt the breath seize in her lungs. It was a scene of forbidden beauty, intensely sensual, and her body responded in kind.

9. "Far be it for me to deny my grathita anything she desires."

10. He opened a drawer on the table beside the bed, pulling out several strands of velvet ribbon. "Trust me more."

11."You know I can hear what you’re thinking, right?"

12. "They might be lacking in loyalty, but they more than make up for it with their thirst for power. A trait I can only admire."

13. And with a thought, she unmade his mind.

13 LINES

I've seen people do this-and I thought I would give it a shot. Here are 13 lines from Lifting the Veil-which just released Wednesday.

1. Of all the things she’d ever imagined herself doing,
hawking an herbal remedy for erectile dysfunction that advertised itself as “the perfect way to RISE to the occasion” was definitely not among them.

2. “So, are they naked?”

3. “She is incredible, isn’t she?” Finn waggled his elegant brow. “Not only a voice that would tempt a saint, but that body! For such a tiny little thing, she has got one amazing
pair of—”

4. Bob was a Greek god.

5. As they stood in line in the ladies’ room, Meru listened to Sheridan’s relentless lecture on the evils of drinking and biting strange men.
So did the six other girls crammed into the smallish space with them.
From the looks on their faces, they thought her cousin was as crazy as she did. They must have seen the buff god she was dancing with.

6. “And why does your ex-boyfriend, who you never told me was such a prick by the way, suddenly look like a refugee from Snake town?"

7. “Are you sure somebody didn’t slip me a Mickey?” he asked hopefully. “Or maybe I have malaria. Are there spots on my tongue?” He stuck out his tongue.

8. “For heaven’s sake, look around you, Sher. We’re in a room full of Shifters and Faeries and Druids.”
“Oh my.”

9. The long mirror above the bathroom counter gave him an unhindered view of paradise, all the lush hills and valleys of his own personal Eden.

10. “Leabhar na cailleacha, tar ar ais chugam!”

11. In reality, his nearness was eroding her ability to think beyond the rather primitive, monosyllabic level of—You. Me. Floor. Now.

12. “All right,” she grumped. “But if you fall in love and get married, just know that Auntie Sheridan is not going to get stuck at home babysitting the puppies.”

13. “You’re playing a dangerous game, Meru.” His rasping voice slid down her spine in a rough caress and she shivered. “If you act like prey, the predator in me will want to run you down.”

Poetry Monday

Wednesday-This Wednesday-my firstborn will be sent out into the world! I'm so excited!!! Here is the blurb-and then a poem/spell within the book.
When Meru Tanner receives a mysterious birthday present, The Book of Veils, her world is turned upside down. Now she’s "seeing" things that aren’t supposed to be real, gabbing with gods—and having erotic premonitions about one sexy wolf-man she’d do anything to tame.

She tempted the feral beast inside him to come out and play. Damon Arkadios has kept the animal part of his nature leashed for thousands of years. He is a guardian, the leader of the Fianna warriors—but from the moment he caught her scent, he knew she was more than just another assignment. Protecting the little seer will challenge his own beliefs—and his control.

Can she accept the legacy handed down to her from the distant past and convince her Lycan to be a part of her future? Or will the ancient evil that threatens to destroy their world keep them from making a new beginning together?

And now the spell that starts it all:

I lift the veil behind which lies
Secrets shielded from my eyes
All Others by their Magick hidden
Are from my sight no more forbidden
Awaken mind where true eye dwells
Awaken soul within your shell
I call to Danu in my plight
Illuminate this darkest night
Contest Note:
It has come to my attention that some people are confused by the Night and Day contest Red Garnier and I are holding for our two vampire releases.
We are putting up one to two quotes a week on our blog-from movies and television-all related to vampires. Your mission is to collect them all and on April 30th, email me at r.g.alexander@hotmail.com with a list of the quotes AND their movie/series of origin. We will pick two winners. One will receive a tribal sun pendant with amber/the other a moonstone pendant. Both are gorgeous and I really wanted to keep them, so I'm sure you will love them. On that note.
CONTEST QUOTE #4: “There are worse things out tonight than vampires.”
”Like what?”
“Like me.”

13 Magical Books

In less than a week my book, Lifting the Veil, will come out at Ellora's Cave. I am nervous and excited. It was my first, my beginning, my leap into the void.

In the story the heroine, Meru Tanner, receives an ancient book for her birthday. The book is blank, that is until she recites a spell that changes how she sees the world around her, and has the book responding in a very...un-book-like way. :)

There are so many old stories and legends about magical books- even in present day fiction and movies-you can find them everywhere. So I thought I would do my TT on the most recent ones-from the silly to the spooky.

1. Benny from Ella Enchanted. Benny was the boyfriend of Ella's household fairy, who accidentally turned him into a book during a spell gone wrong. The good news is Benny is a fount of info on the whereabouts of individuals and the local geography.

2. Tom Riddle’s talking diary from Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets. Voldermort put his 16 yr old soul into the diary, and when Harry would write a question in the book, the book would soak in the ink...and then respond. That was a mean and evil book/ on a side note-Potter fans should also remember the other book that had large teeth and a bad temper.

3. The Book of Amun Ra and the Book of the Dead in The Mummy Movie. In this movie-the spells in these books literally had the power over life and death. While not sentient-they certainly cause a lot of trouble.

4.The Neverending Story. A book read by a lonely boy, that turns out to be a living story-that requires his imagination to survive.

5.Book of Shadows-Charmed. Holding info on every bad guy the Halliwell family ever ran into-and the spells needed to thwart them.

6. Necronomicon X Mortis-Evil Dead Series-one of my husbands guilty pleasures. Another book with enormous power, and some seriously bad mojo./ Many believe that there is in fact a Necronomicon-others that it was just the creation of an older author...I can't think about it without hearing, "Klatu, Verata...Necktie!"

7. Go Between-Samhain book by Dayna Hart-A pressed fairy book and one sexy hunk of a trapped fairy. Nuff said.

8. The Book of Gramarye-from the children's series The Dark is Rising-made into a movie called The Seeker (just saw it last week lol) In the movie, it can only be read by the seeker, it looks really cool, and it tells him how to retrieve the scattered pieces of light to fight the bad guys.

9. Astoroth's spellbook from Bednobs and Broomsticks, a comic-booklike tomb that tells the legend of the spell the heroes need to help the war effort in WWII Britain.

10. Aha music video for Take On Me. (I'm not reaching lol)-a women gets pulled into a comic book by a sexy hunk. Sounds plausible.

11. The Pagemaster. Home Alone kid hangs out with animated books on a dangerous journey through the library. One of the books sounds like Whoopi Goldberg. :)

12. Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You. aka The Spiderwick Chronicles. An incredibly magical book that a pretty nasty shape-shifting ogre would like to get his hands on.

13. Finally, I think a point can be made that every book is magical, in its ability to take you anywhere, into anytime-and out of your own world...if only for a while.

14. CONTEST QUOTE #3 “I have crossed oceans of time to find you.”
